Here is the invite to our Community of Practitioners workshop on 31 July 2013 in Brisbane
About 20 practitioners from Queensland and Victoria gathered at the Innovation Hub at NDS in Lutwyche on 31 May for a full day workshop.
The themes of learn, practice, share were woven into sessions to look deeper into the calling question:
How do we create the conditions for participatory processes to continue to thrive
There is great energy and we look forwarding to another practice day in November - stay tuned for details. You can take a look at the 31 July harvest here and in the picture below.
Here is a harvest of the conversations at a Community of Practitoners event oShare a story about a time when connectedness and relationship were central to making something important happen:

CHECK IN - What do you hope to get from today?
Come together – recognised a common calling
Lots of energy for the beauty of the process …. being together
Magic happens ….. something you don’t expect …. and it’s beautiful
Intention to hold today lightly
In a learning phase
Nice to have people say “we’ve always got your back”
Wondered “How could this way of working ever thrive in the government sector?” …. And I’ve seen the exponential changes in my workplace
Keep the wank factor out of it
Amazes me how simple this stuff is ….. it brings about change
I really like learning from people. I sit back and wish I was as good as other people ……. Stalking other people and seeing what they do. It’s about doing it differently
Wake up with a smile on my face ….. I get to do this stuff full-time
I need a bit of a fix ….. a stop, reconnect and a think
Being human ….. being able to sit in those kinds of conversations …. Inspiring …. Energising
“Clarity of purpose is the invisible leader”
Listen with curiosity
Fear and doing it anyway
“What’s the risk if I don’t do it?”
Trembling …. The point of no return
A pairs process asked us to share a story of when everything was in flow. Here's the harvest:
Focussing on the calling question... "what do you love enough to bring into being for yourself and this community of practitioners?" - where is the energy and how can this CoP support this?
Small groups took 3 ideas and used action planning templates to explore the ideas further, and come back to the group to share. Here are the results:
Phase one of Uniting Care Community's preparation for the National Disability Insurance Scheme culminated in two major workshops in April 2013.
The first, a two day Sensemaking event, saw more than 200 people respond to the question: “How do we build our capacity as an organisation and as individuals to respond creatively and sustainably to the future under the NDIS?”
The purpose of the workshop was to collectively make sense of the challenges and possibilities ahead, in order to inform phase two of the work – the implementation phase.
The second three-day workshop, attended by 132 people (including a few from outside UCC), was a Participatory Leadership workshop which aimed to build participatory process skills and practice within UCC. Read the harvest newsletter - thanks Penny Hamilton for sharing it with us!
