This 3-day training was held in Brisbane from November 25-27 2013, hosted by National Disability Services Queensland and supported by our Community of Practitioners.
The workshop was a chance to explore Art of Hosting as a tool for system and organisational change, around the question:
"How do we build the trust and confidence within our systems for collaborative action to flourish in service of our communities?"

day 1 - stepping in
This is a poetry harvest / reflection of Day 1, 25 November. Thanks Jane :)
What a wonderful and inspiring first day - more to come!
What makes your heart sing?
Does anything make your heart sing?
Silence....oh terrible, terrible silence
Here's what makes my heart sing
Oh, Thank god!!! Oh, you make my heart sing...
Music, learning, hearing, glimpsing that thing
Disobedience, courageous righteousness
I'm at a higher resonance
The perfect wedding moment,
Continues to delight - brings a smile to my face
Simplicity, escaping complexity
Beautiful nature, mother and her daughters
Light coming in through the cracks
Knowing doesn't rely on intellect
Here to find a new way
For everyone to have a place to belong
People, doing that thing, that thing that they love, fully alive
Beautiful or bad, tears in my eyes
I matter most when we deeply engage
Intimate conversation, human beings amaze
Learn from the littlies
Please get it! Literacy!
Words perfectly formed and deep belly laughs
Look up! you have moved! How far you have come!
The bad guys, the good guys, broken things that need fixing
Innocent humour and deep and strong feeling
A grumpy old Yorkshireman who doesn't know who he is
He has looked all over but doesn't know where it is
The mosh pit, the young ones, the kings of Leon
The joyous heart opening at the sound of the song
Drunken singing, collective expression of joy
There's love in Slovenia and there's a toy boy
This is wrong, this is wrong, but I found a way in.
Ordinary, extraordinary, no one thing
I am an artist
Creating, making, gardening
Belonging with me makes my heart sing
Guardian calls: today it's Mel
She will ring the Bossy bell
Four fold practice, walk with another
Wake up to the world!
Know yourself, know each other
Wandering through the hallowed aisles
In Coles and Aldi you could walk the miles
I am my phone
Keeps me all alone
I swim in the sea
And in the galaxy
I watch your bodies
They speak to me
I hold my hands
Dont let them free
Hosts take your posts!
Welcome to the cafe
Questions within questions
Did you get an oooo today?
Uber you uber me, ah-ha-ah
There is plenty you can do, and be
Sit in quiet, find your learning edge
Speak to the circle
Or keep as a pledge
Never, except for you...
In place of results,
Harvesting is new
Intentional Purpose and the Harvesters
Coming soon to a circle near you
We stand in line still alive
Jan's a 10, but most 6.5
Day 1, and we were exploring some of The Four Fold Practices through World Cafe. The result - some truly wicked questions!
Round 1: We asked -
How can I stay truly inspired to practice mindful conversations, and be curious about the outcome?
The table harvest was: What's one question that would help take your learning about being hosted to another level?
How can I create opportunities for myself and others to do our best work together?
The table harvest was: What's one question that would help take your learning about hosting others to another level?
What will it take to develop and sustain relationships to harness our collective wisdom?
The table harvest was: What's one question that would help take your learning about co-creation to another level?
